IIRC the main driving force was Gwenview when it became the default KDE picture
viewer

zypper search kdcraw

We increase the binary version number with each binary incompatible release.
There's no problem to install them in parallel. The 8 is from KDE 4.5 OpenSuse
packages, 9 is probably my self-installed version.
As you see, opensuse even includes the "8" in the package name.
