No, this bug is not solved.

Repeated testcase from comment #20: Extracted metadata from a NEF and inserting
this into Solar_spectrum.tiff, using the exiv2 command line tool, current exiv2
SVN.

Error message from gimp:
invalid TIFF directory; tags are not sorted in ascending order
