Ok, so the main problem is that there were no photos in digikam after copying
back the collection.
It's clear that there are no tag<->image associations if there are no images.
It's also clear that there are no tags - if tags were not stored in image
metadata - after you removed the old db.

My recommendation is to use the old DB and digikam 1.0.0. It should detect the
change in harddisk partition and ask you for confirmation that your collection
has indeed moved.
