Maybe I can awake this wish from the dead... After improving quite some of my
images I'd like to list here an order which represents my experience. Nothing
special, just the steps and the order I use to improve my pictures.

Maybe this would help those who want to do some quick modifications before
posting images. Following from top to bottom (or from left to right in the
toolbar) would also simplify the workflow a lot. If some of these buttons are
not applicable for the specific picture, they simply are not clicked.

To be applied to the whole unchanged picture.
  - Transform => rotate left
  - Transform => rotate right
  - Enhance => Lens Distortions
  - Enhance => Vignetting
General correction changing the geometry of the picture
  - Transform => Free rotation
  - Transform => Shear
  - Transform => Perspective Adjustment
  - Transform => aspect ratio crop
Correcting/editing the colours
  - Color => Auto Correction
  - Color => Levels Adjust
  - Color => Curves Adjust
  - Color => White Balance
  - Color => Brightness/Contrast/Gamma
  - Color => Hue/Saturation/Lightness
  - Color => Channel Mixer
  - Color => Black and White
Enhancing the picture quality
  - Enhance => Sharpen
  - Enhance => Noise Reduction
  - Enhance => Red Eye
Misc
  - Transform => change size (resample or how the english tranlation may be)
  - Decorate => Insert Text
  - File => Print
