digikam=1.0.0 is on it's way to Debian testing (squeeze):

We are awaiting the hppa build of digikam (completed today) as well as 
the migration of exiv2=0.19.

For those would would like to install 1.0.0 it is currently available here:
http://packages.debian.org/digikam
