No idea about this problem really.

It's sound like KDELibs 4.4 API about KIOSLave has a problem, but i'm not 
sure.
Under KDE 4.3, no problem here, all recompiled myself.

Perhaps you can try to recompile yourself digiKam ?

I have the same problem. Recompiling with latest makes no difference. I have 
just changed to KDE4.4           Do you think there is a bug in KDE?
