I am a single click user, and I do not see anything wrong with single click
going back so long as a single click and drag will pan. In fact this is how I
would prefer it to work, even though I would not have come up with the idea
myself. As this is the current SVN behaviour, I have a hard time understanding
what your objection to this behaviour is (in the context of a single click
system). It might be somewhere in your post, but it's long and my English is
bad :)

Please make this clear:

Do you object to "single left click: back | left drag: pan" behaviour for
single-click mode? If so, on what basis?

Do you object to "single left click: back | left drag: pan" behaviour for
double-click mode? If so, on what basis?

Do you object to the options proposed in Comment #7? If so, on what basis?

Thanks!
