           Summary: localization fails after upgrade !
           Product: digikam
           Version: 1.2.0
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: digikam-devel at kde.org
        ReportedBy: ubuntu.dj at gmail.com

Version:           1.2.0 (using KDE 4.4.0)
OS:                Linux

Some time ago i setup kubuntu 8.10, with :
 - digikam -> v0.9.3
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid/i386/digikam/2:0.9.3-2ubuntu1)
 - kde -> 3.4.3  (cf: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/intrepid/i386/kde/5:47)

Then i upgrade to 9.04, then to 10.04:
 - digikam 1.2.0, KDE 4.4

One user was using digikam a lot.
After the upgrade he had some localiartion problems:
 - messages in splashscreen and menus are no more translated to french

I had to remove $/.kde directory to get the right translation back.

And now, my questions / wishes:
1) I think I should not have to remove .kde directory after ubgrade ?

2) If removal of .kde is recommended after upgrade, KDE have to detect and ask
me do d othat !

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
Some time ago i setup kubuntu 8.10 (or may be 9.04)
Setup french language
Use digikam (splashscreen messages are in french)
upgrade to kubuntu 10.04

Launch digikam (same user as previous)

Then i upgrade to 9.04, then to 10.04:

Actual Results:
Digikam splashscreen messages and some menu items are in english

Expected Results:
Digikam should be fully in french !

With a newly created user, digikam messages are well treanslated.
-> that's why i suspected .kde directory

I think there is some localization cache (in .kde directory) that is not
cleaned during upgrade ?
