Do you want a replacement for Hugin? Why not just use Hugin? Or am I
misunderstanding something?

In my opinion, we shouldn't aim to make digiKam a replacement for every other
graphics application out there. Let's focus on what digiKam is good at
(managing lots of pictures) and add features that belong in management
workflows or features that are not readily available in any other good
applications. For example, I don't think we should try to make digiKam a
replacement for Gimp. Adding exposure blending, on the other hand, was great,
because there weren't any good graphical frontend available for
enfuse/align_image_stack.
