This behavior wasn't consistent but I think I found the issue. I was holding
down the CTRL key after rating an image. If I press CTRL-1, then immediately
lift fingers from the "1" AND the CTRL, then the next image is displayed. If I
continue to hold down the CTRL key, then the next image is not displayed.
