Okanda, what does it mean you lost your db? Did you have harddisk failure? Or
did digikam crash before? Data loss should not happen because the underlying
database keeps a journal and is transaction safe.

I dont think digikam should be doing backups because it is simply not running
all the time. Data loss can occur anytime. There are dedicated tools better
suited for this purpose.
