Gilles,

compiled without marble is the same. Crashes every now and then when scanning
images or reading thumbnails.

But while reading a bug about amarok i was inspired to start digiKam setting
the 

MALLOC_CHECK_ variable to 0

result, digiKam is working.

What this points to?
