           Summary: improve digimam main menu
           Product: digikam
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: digikam-devel at kde.org
        ReportedBy: viesturs.zarins at mii.lu.lv

Version: (using KDE 4.2.96)
OS: Linux
Installed from: Unlisted Binary Package

Using digikam 0.10.0

The main menu needs some cleanup. The current state is quite messy:
* The Tools->Create Calendar action also belongs to export
* The Edit submenu contains only image selection actions, it should be merged
with Image submenu.
* The whole Image submenu is a big mess
  * The KML Export and Send Images should be under Export
  * Rotate, Flip and other simple actions belong under Edit.
* Also there is no option for simple export to a local folder, please add one.

My main point is that the menus should be ordered by the function. Generic
menus like Image, Edit and Tools are not helpful. Digikam itself is a program
for manipulating images, the menu items should concentrate on more specific
tasks.
Consider such submenus:
* Album * Edit * Metadata * Tags *  Search * Light table * Tools * Import *
Export * Settings * Help

The Batch sumbenu moves under Edit, as it is not needed very often.
The Edit menu contains actions that alter image bitmap data.
The Metadata menu contains actions that alter image metadata.
The Search menu contains all search actions.
The Tools submenu contains odds and ends that does not fit elsewhere, ideally
it should not be there at all.
