Because Ubuntu is not a rolling release distro (that's what I hate about it).
They don't update packages for the next 6 months, unless a VERY CRITICAL
vulnerability bug has been fixed, and most of the time only this patch will be
applied.
Since we closed 200 bugs, it is like a new package release to Ubuntu, and they
might not update this.
I don't like such distros, but at least Ubuntu could have never added a digiKam
beta for their stable release, that's what annoys me the most here, because now
they don't seem to care about updating the package ;-(
