[Digikam-devel] sponsoring face recognition

Dear friends,

greetings.
Following the recent success (1) of the campain to improve Krita (1a),
I would like to propose something similar for digikam: a community sponsorship to implent digikams most wanted feature - one of the most wanted features in the kde sc / application family (2):

Face detection and recognition.

The GSOC 2008 page features a roadmap of what would be needed code / workflow-wise (4), and you are likely aware too that the wish at bko (3) contains also plenty of suggestions.

Of course, this needs

- someone willing & able to work on it
- mentoring
- setting up pledgie & connect it to a paypal account
- interest in it by the you, gilles et al.
- writing a sweet promo article

I am volunteering to write something preliminary before it enters kde-promo for the final touches of a potential (dot) article, if you think it would be useful to get this rolling. Do you?
