In the meantime I played around a bit: png in Batch Queue Mode has the same
problem - it's 8 bit depth. But doing a conversation with Extras->RAWStack
Conversion, the png is 16 bit of depth (hope I translated the menue item
correctly - it is the last one under Extras).
It is unclear to my, why some of the conversions are under Extras and some in
the Batch Queue (e.g. DNG is missing there).
In the meantime I'm on digikam-rc and kipi-plugins 0.9.
