And ~ is /root/ ?

You can run
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=~/sources/graphics/lib:${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}
~/sources/graphics/digikam/digikam/digikam
to assert you are running the binary from your SVN directory.
If you start digikam under gdb, is the backtrace the same?
