This is not really a bug in the digiKam-software.

On the IPTC-Website (iptc.org) is »a list of software which claims to be
compatible with IPTC Photo Metadata standards« called
»Software supporting IPTC photo metadata standards IIM and "IPTC Core"«:

I think DigiKam should be listed there, too!
