digiKam use kio-slave to play with database contents. messages from the console
said that kio-slave cannot be found on your system. sound like kio-slave are
not installed at the right place.

I recommend to use a bootstrap script avaialble in digikam/project subfolder to
set-up env. variable before to compile digiKam. Look script content, it's small
and easy to understand, and adpat path to KDEroot dir where kio-slave must be
installed.
