I don't like very much effect of auto-level in digiKam but: this is the way other  FOSS tools are   doing it (eg. GIMP). I think bug report needs reformulation.

BTW why all FOSS image manipulation programs are using Luminance as main channel in histogram instead of Photoshop combined RGB?
