Great, it also seems to work in my case. 

However,afterwards I can't see any images.
There are some error messages in the konsole like
QObject::killTimer: timers cannot be stopped from another thread
QObject::startTimer: timers cannot be started from another thread
QPainter::begin: Widget painting can only begin as a result of a paintEvent
QPainter::end: Painter not active, aborted

But I am not sure whether these are related 
(I am currently testing via ssh over a pretty slow connection, so
I will have to wait until next week ...). As Gilles cannot reproduce this,
I suggest to ignore it for the moment ... ;-)
