dupe bug 131036 had some good suggestions. It should be noted that the facility
for persistently marking photos currently exists in KDE 4 / Qt, and can be seen
in Dolphin. In Dolphin, icons can be checked, which acts as a persistent form
of selection. Gilles mentions in bug 131036 that this feature will be possible
in Digikam only when Digikam is pure Qt4, however, which will not be the case
for 0.10.
