Even with 
high:/home/software/installed/digikam/graphics # pkg-config --modversion
libkexiv2
0.5.0

I still get the same error:
--  libkexiv2 library found............. NO                                     
--                                                                              
CMake Error at digikam/CMakeLists.txt:181 (MESSAGE):                            
   digiKam needs libkexiv2 library >= 0.5.0. You need to install libkexiv2
first

Did you ever test a 64 bit system, maybe there is a cmake configuration problem
related to these systems? Although I can't see how.
