Update of the previous patch to SVN KDE 4.1 branch

There are two show stoppers which keep me from applying the patch:

1.) usage of QRubberBand with Oxygen gives garbled screen output
2.) I need to fix the case where the selected bounding box doesn't equal the
viewport rect.
