Summary: Digikam Edit / Showfoto: Use Color Managed View setting
in config page is ignored (in my view this is a
                    usability bug)
           Product: digikam
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: unspecified
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: digikam-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: ari.reads gmail com

Version: 0.9.3Beta (using KDE KDE 3.5.8)
OS: Linux

If I set "Color Managed View" in showfoto (or in Digikam in Edit mode), click OK, I would think I was using a color managed view. It turned out I was not. If you go back to the config page, then you find the "Color Managed View" is off again.

I found this out after wasting time with a few images, by pure chance, opening a UFRAW-converted PNG with an embedded profile in both GIMP (with color managed *really* enabled) and Digikam. I sadly realized I wasted a few hours of image edits.

Then I wasted a few hours more troubleshooting digikam; I thought there were problems with my ICCs, then with UFRaw and even Gimp, etc. Even recompiled an SVN snapshot.

Then by chance I found now there is a key (F12) that "really really turns on" the color managed view.

Can you guys fix the misleading Configuration > Color Management > ICC profiles and settings "checkbox" that doesn't do what non-digikam-expert-users like myself would expect it to do? If it doesn't do anything, why is it there?

Also Adding a quick mention in the Config page to the F12 key to really really activate the thing would be great as well. Could save people hours of troubleshooting something that is not broken :|

TIA
