Gilles, the "Recent tags" is a different history. 
What Mikolaj suggested, if I understood it correctly,  
is to have a history for the entries used in the search field 
(even though I start to wonder
how easy that would be, because it is an incremental search box,
i.e., when should one add the text to the history?).
