I can't claim to be a gimp pro but they look pretty good.  Restoring the facial tone colors to no sample.  The face could look better.

Hi Paul,

how did you get along with unfading using the gimp?

I think we should close this bug, not because it is invalid,
but feathered selection is not going to be implemented soon,
if ever, as it is more something for a full image-editing program.
