Summary: Image selection bugs (multiple and single selections)
           Product: digikam
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: Linux
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: digikam-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: Thomas.McGuire gmx net

Version: SVN (using KDE KDE 3.5.6)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Linux

There are two problems with selections of pictures in the thumbnail view:

1.
Digikam sometimes operates on pictures which are not selected.
Assume the following situation:
The thumbnail view shows 2 pictures. Initially, the first one is selected. Now, click on some empty whitespace and drag the selection over picture 2. Now only picture 2 is selected, like it should be. Now, click on the "Edit" icon in the toolbar. Picture 1 will be opened in the editor, while the selected one, picture 2, should be opened instead.
Using "Image->Rotate" operates on the correct picture, however the selection jumps to picture 1 afterwards.
Selecting a picture by right-clicking it and then pressing escape works.

2.
The selection is reset after opening/closing the right sidebar, but only when selection a picture with the "click empty space and drag" method described above.
Multiple selection does not work with either method.
