Summary: Digikam Deleted 2.3 g of Pictures
           Product: digikam
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: Ubuntu Packages
        OS/Version: other
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: general
        AssignedTo: digikam-devel kde org
        ReportedBy: comicfan2000 sbcglobal net

Version: (using KDE KDE 3.5.6)
Installed from: Ubuntu Packages
OS: Other

I am running Ubuntu feisty, Hp pavilion 512W, separate drive for Ubuntu.

I was using Digikam for my digital camera Olympus fe-115. It opened the pics fine and imported them fine. The problem came in when I didn't want my 2.3 gig folder of pictures in the album section, these were separate and just wanted to handle my camera pictures in the album. so the only option seems to be, delete. Now not knowing if it would delete them entirely, I looked first and saw move to trash and saw the delete box as well and made sure it was NOT checked and tried it with an empty folder. I saw the folder in my home so thought, great, it only deleted from the Digikam album. To my surprise, when I deleted the 2.3 gig album from Digikam, it never made it to the trash. What happened was this..It deleted my photos completely, they were nowhere in the trash bin, instead of my 2.3 g of pictures, I ended up with a folder called pictures, and it's empty. My original folder was My Pictures, as I created it. Plus all sub folders were gone as well. Then there are duplicates all of the sudden of the Digikam album folder. One main folder, then another copy of it, then one inside it with pictures and the empty picture folder. I don't know what is going on with it but luckily I always backup so no problem but if someone who isn't backup savvy, they may get into trouble. I have to try and remove Digikam as it's not working well at all. It imports very quickly but has been very unstable. So a quick rundown again...in case this sounds confusing..

Digikam:

Had folder in album: My Pictures 2.3 g

Chose only to move to trash not delete: deleted them anyway and created an empty folder in it's place called "pictures"

Digital photo import: Created a folder eg..00.21.XXXX then created a copy of it, then another inside it.

Thanks much for the time..

Paul
