Hello,

I have seen this wish and I wanted to submit a comment. The system 
offers me to do so, but when I try, then I get an error screen, saying
"A legal Component was not set". So I suppose, I would need special 
privilege to submit a comment ?

Anyway here is the comment:

Try plugin "noisereduction" from svn.

Set "Radius" to any value you want, if unsure choose 5.0, thats fine for 
noise reduction in most cases.

If you want (almost) plain gaussian blur, set "Threshold" to 1.0, if you 
want adaptive blur, choose lower values.

Goto 2nd tab.
If you want to preserve all luma information, set "Luminance" to zero, 
if you want partial preservation choose higher values.

Hope this resolves the problem.
