No: I've downgraded exiv2 to 0.9.1, recompiled digikam+plugins, same problem.

Appears to be: below 2MB, I don't have any problem.
In the range 2Mb~2.6MB, some result in corrupt JPEG, some not.
Above 2.6MB, all result in corrupt JPEG.
