[Digikam-devel] Ideas for improved slideshow

Hi everybody,

first of all, I wish you all a happy and successful new year.

During the last days, I was thinking about how to improve the
slideshow-plugin.

I organize my images with one album per event, and within one album,
they are sorted by their timestamp. But when I prepare a
slideshow, I sometimes use images from more than one album, and
normally I don't use them chronological.

At the moment, I have to copy all images I want to use into a new
folder and rename them e.g. "img_0010.jpg, img_0020.jpg, ..." The
steps of 10 are used by purpose: Now it's easier to change the
order, because I only have to change the number of the very image I
want to move.

I think, it would be very nice to be able to change the order simply
by drag 'n drop, but without renaming images. So a slideshow for
me is more like a list of links to images, which are stored in
different albums. Of course it would be a good idea to be able to
export such a slideshow, including resizing the images. (BTW: For
me, this workflow is quite similar to preparing a gallery for the
web.)

When presenting a slideshow, I would like to be able to have more
control over the presentation. That means, I would prefere to jump
to the next image by hitting a key or a mouse key instead of having
a predefined time the images is displayed.

What do you think about?
