Hello *,

I can see one little related problem, easy to reproduce:

1. Start digikam (latest 0.9.0 svn/KDE3.5.1/i686)
2. First picture in the album is selected but no exif data are visible in the 
exif sidebar.
3. Select another picture in the album -> exif data are visible
