It's possible for you like developper, but in normal way, digiKam < 0.9.0 
cannot be mix with 0.8.1 release... 0.9.0 is in alpha and have never be 
released yet... This is have non sence for me to test if we have digiKam 
0.9.0 installed instead 0.8.1
