[Digikam-devel] Digikam Strip Down?

Hello,

First: I LOVE DIGIKAM! Great tool! makes live so EASY! ;0)
Second: I would also love to have something comparable for generic files
(pdfs, txt, jpgs, odt, eps, source code ...) - a program which allows to
keep (preferably customizable) meta data on any joe shmoe file (not just
images ...) in a file system parallel data base. Plugins could then be
added for file type specific actions ... just as for image manipulations in
digikam.

Has anyone here ever thought about this?
How difficult would it be to use digikam code as a base and strip the image
specific stuff out of it?
Is any body interested in thinking about this with me?
