I have checked the code provide by Renchi between 

- Kipi::JPEGLossLess plugin at jpegtransform.cpp
- Digikam::exifRotate at exifrotate.cpp

... about lossless transformations operated on JPEG. The codes are similar.

Roger, can you test kipi jpeglossless on your downloaded jpeg file from camera (without process auto-rotate during download) and look if you find the same problem
