I completed a new prototype test version. You can get it under:

http://www.uni-koblenz.de/~krienke/digitaglinktree

This version now has an -A directory option. The script will then archive all 
of digikams photos and the tag structure (both by using hard links) into the 
given  directory. In this directory the photos are placed in a subfolder 
called Photos and the tag structure in a subfolder called Links. 

Because hard links are used the given directory has to be on the same 
filesystem like digikams root directory. 

A call to archive photos and tehir tag structure might look like this:
digitaglinktree -r /home/krienke/photos -d /home/krienke/photos/digikam3.db  \
                      -A /home/krienke/export

Please test it.
