Yes!

I like this. I don't need full blown version management either. I want to 
retain the original, and the idea of being able to set pictures as 
"active" and "inactive". This way, when I create a panorama (single image) 
out of 8 or 10 seperate images I can set all those as "inactive" and need 
not worry about them appearing in dynamic folders, search results, 
slideshows, etc.

Of course, one can probably use tags for this and always exclude a tag 
"inactive" from everything, but wasn't digiKam supposed to be easy to use, 
right? ;-p

This should be pretty easy with a DB backend.
