Additional to Owens comment, you have to reinstall the kipi-plugins too,
which might be the problem here.

To check the needed libs you can use ldd

$ locate libkexif.so 
$ ldd /opt/kde-trunk.2005-08-13/lib/libkexif.so | grep exif
