[Digikam-devel] Would like to have a menu entry to run a script on selected images

Hello,
I make my photo with a Nikon D70 and use digikam to manage my photos. One
thing I have been missing in digikam is a way to run a script on selected
images.
I need this to extract EXIF information out of the Makernotes (the ISO value
is only available inside these Makernotes) section of the D70 images files
and to reinsert the ISO value back into a standard tag that is also displayed
by digikam.
The problem is that since digikam cannot decode the Nikon makernotes I need to
run a script (exiftool, http://www.sno.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/) that
can do so to extract the information I need. At the moment I do this from a
shell. Do get easily in the correct directory containing the images I want to
process I start konqueror from digikam then press F4 to get a shell in this
directory and then start my script.
This of course works, but the ability to run a script from digikam would be
much better.
I guess it should not be that hard to code a new menu entry that calls a
script handing over the names of the selected files to this script.
Any opinions?
Thanks
Rainer
