Well essentially it breaks down whats going on in KDE to a digestable format. It makes it easy for someone who is more than casually interested to see what is happening across the various areas in KDE code wise. It highlights parts that are interesting and gives people a place to jump into helping out with code. 

There are other little ways that it provides assistance but those are the most common I can think of
