Hello dear attendee!
Your are receiving this (very last minute) mail from the organizers to
inform you about what all you can expect from the conference, and what all
we expect from you, our attendee.
Reaching the venue : -
>From Rithala Metro Station (Red Line), you can find multiple public
transport options right under the metro station that take you to Maharaja
Agrasen Institute of Technology, also known as MAIT. It should cost just 10
rupees for shared public transport, and higher if you opt for other travel
options.
At the main gate of MAIT, please mention to the guard you are here to
attend the KDE India Conference. To get to the 8th block (the IT
Department) where the conference is being hosted within the campus, you can
easily navigate within the campus with the help of signs placed on pillars
and trees that mark the way to the IT block.
The exact room number is 852. -- IT Block, 4th floor [ feel free to use the
lift in the building :) ]
Bring your laptop : -
Please bring your laptop (and charger + extension cord if required). The
workshop at the end of the day (3 pm onwards) will be purely a hands-on
workshop, so make the most out of the workshops by bringing your laptop. ^-^
Water availability at the conference : -
TBD
We won't be providing disposable water bottles on the venue because of
environmental reasons. While water dispensers are situated throughout the
campus and also inside the IT Block, please bring a bottle to avoid any
congestion at the dispensers.
Agenda of the conference : -
conf.kde.in 2020 will create a fertile environment for people to get
started with KDE, Qt and FOSS through numerous talks, hands-on sessions and
demonstrations.
All of these events have been successful in attracting a lot of Indian
students to mentoring programs such as Google Summer of Code (GSoC), Season
of KDE, and Google Code-In.
Conference Timeline : -
The conference itself is based on chronological order-
Day One is focused on educating our attendees on software companies and
practical applications which make use of C++, Qt Framework and are still
able to make profits while operating in the Free and Open Source Software
domain. Day One ends with a pilot for day 2 as a workshop on how to start
with the Qt Framework.
Day Two is focused on the Qt framework, some applications powered by Qt and
how KDE software uses the Qt framework. Day Two ends with a workshop that
teaches how you can start working on your own KDE application, be it an
existing project or a completely project from scratch.
Day Three is focused on how the international KDE Community has been making
big waves into the Free and Open Source Software development, many great
end-user applications that many of our attendees usually have been using
for quite a long time (and have great things to say about them). Day Three
ends with a closing note just after giving a taste of an emerging new way
to build your mobile and desktop applications with C++. Search online for
"KDE Kirigami" if you can't wait for it. ;)
We have also set up Hangout Rooms within the IT Block where you can chat
with the speakers or simply chat with other attendees during the conference
hours.
For your ease, we have attached two files with this mail : -
1. a one-page schedule that you can check to know about the upcoming talks
at the conference.
2. route from the main college gate (yellow star) to the IT Block within
the campus (red building).
Have a great time networking and acquiring new skills at the KDE India
Conference 2020.
