Is it an assert or is it a real crash?

I think it might make sense Qt wise to make sure that editing is only done in 
begin/endEditBlock so I think we should make sure that in our code we do that 
every time we edit something. Can you explain the side effect a bit more 
detailed. Might there be a way to workround the problem too. it should be 
possible to show the cursor as other qt classes do it to but maybe I'm missing 
something.
