That would be very inconvenient for me. I guess there is the possibility for 
me to tag on wednesday and let someone else handle the remain of the release 
process, or wait an extra two weeks.

Since it has been opened for two months without a fix, it either very 
complicated to fix, or not that important enough, in either case, I suggest to 
simply disable merging between filter layer and group layer.
