I did not look too closely but I guess MusiXTeX mush have GPL
exception [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GPL_font_exception] employed
so the documents created with it are useful without affecting license
of the musical creations. I see no difference in our use: our icons
can be GPL2 too with the exception, we're embedding them dynamically
in our creations (apps) as the document typesetting systems do...

How about asking the author if unsure - shouldn't be a lot of effort.
