Amarok and covers in id3 tags

Hello all,
I spent quite some work in including covers directly in the id3 tags of all my
songs. I do that so far with a Mac (with iTunes and coverscout). Now, I
started to use Amarok (again) and I like it. But: when I copy songs from my
iPod (classic, 160GB), it does not recognize the stored covers.
Moreover, Amarok has an own cover manager, but in version 2.2.0 (Kubuntu
9.10), this is not really useful for me: When I tell Amarok to fetch the not
available covers, it does nothing. But when I right-click on an album without
cover, it correctly fetches it (if Amarok can find it). So automatic fetching
does not work for me.
Over all, I am aware that cover management is some kind of difficult area.
Amarok stored the covers somewhere in the filesystem itself which is perfectly
okay if you do not make backups of the mp3 collection. Unfortunately, I am one
of these people who like making backups - as I use my collection on several
systems ( Linux / Windows / Mac). So storing the covers directly in the id3
tags of the songs is taking more space, but it is the best solution for me.
Does anybody see another possibility? Or will covers in id3 tages be supported
in a future version of Amarok?
Regards,
Michael
