Amarok, iPods, and podcasts

I recently installed openSuSE 11.2, which comes with Amarok 2.1.1. Unless
I'm missing something, Amarok 2.x is a HUGE STEP BACKWARDS from v 1.4.

With 1.4 it was easy, indeed, quite intuitive download podcasts and transfer
them to my 80GB iPod Classic (once I found the secret of adding the SysInfo
file, http://amarok.kde.org/wiki/Media_Device:IPod). However I can't see
how to get a podcast onto my iPod using 2.1. From what I'm finding via
Google, it might not even be possible.

Since "upgrading" I haven't tried adding new CD tracks to my iPod. I hope
that is not broken. However losing podcasts is to my mind a BIG MISTAKE,
and essentially makes Amarok 2.1 a broken application.
