Dynamic Collection Help

I read that Amarok 2.3 has dynamic collections back in, which excites me
because I've been waiting for this feature to return!  I can't get it to
work however.  I'm running off Git, and what I'm observing is that if I plug
in an external drive, do a full scan, then unmount the drive, the songs are
still visible in the collection.  If I do another rescan (or even restart
Amarok) the songs disappear, but then they don't reappear once I mount the
drive again.

So, it doesn't seem like the dynamic collection behavior is kicking in at
all - am I misssing something?  Also, is there a good way to connect to and
query the mysqle database so I can check the device identifiers?

If it's relevant, this drive also shows up as a separate USB mass storage
collection.  Might this be interacting with the dynamic collection somehow?
