I think you're already going to merge these changes but I did some
benchmarking multiple times and found this:

amarok trunk gave me numbers around this:
3.5e+02s

jefferai gave me two sets of numbers:
1.5e+02s
or
5e+02s ???

I have no idea what the caused the longer times but I basically got
either the much improved time or the much worse.   I got both results
somewhat randomly.  It could have been something on my end but the
system was almost completely idle when I tested.
