Yes you do.

Contrary to intuition, The Playlist (on the right) has no link to the
saved playlists (on the left). When loading a saved playlist you are
just taking the tracks and adding them to a queue to be played. You
can compare loading a saved playlist to loading an album. I don't
think you expect the album to change when you add a track in the
queue.

We plan to make it more obvious that The Playlist is not an editor for
saved playlists. After 2.1 is released we'll the actions. "Append
Playlist" will become "Add Tracks" and "Load Playlist" will become
"Add to current Playlist" or something along those lines.

In 2.1 we've restored the behavior from 1.4: you can see the tracks in
a saved playlist again. And you'll also be able to change the order
of, add and delete tracks (though that feature is still missing in
trunk ATM).
